Marshall Butler
Marshall Butler, Jr. presently teaches choral music in the Wake County Public School System at Jesse O. Sanderson High School. He has served as Middle and High School All-County Clinician for Cumberland, Duplin, Gaston, New Hanover, Onslow, Pitt and Rockingham County Schools. He was among the first group of teachers to receive their National Board for Professional Teachers Certification in Music in 2002. Marshall Butler was also Jesse O. Sanderson High School’s 2002 - 2003 Teacher of the Year. During the fall of 2004, under the direction of Marshall Butler, the Jesse O. Sanderson High School Sandpipers performed at the North Carolina Music Educators Conference in Winston-Salem.
Marshall Butler taught choral music in the Rocky Mount City Schools for nine years. During the fall of 1991, under his direction, the Edwards Junior High School performed at the North Carolina Music Educators Conference in Winston-Salem. Mr. Butler earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Winston-Salem State University, where he studied under Robert L. Morris. Marshall and his wife, Karen, have two lovely daughters (Knachelle teaches in the Wake County School System, and Melody attends Meredith College). He serves as the Minister of Music at Riley Hill Baptist Church in Wendell, NC.
